Eidos Montréal has finally announced that it’s currently working on a Guardians of The Galaxy game, and it’s coming on October 26, 2021!
Years after Eidos Montréal’s Guardians of the Galaxy game was leaked in 2017, the Canadian video game developer is finally ready to show it off. Announced during the Square Enix Presents E3 2021 livestream, we got our first look at the newest adventure for Star-Lord and his crew in an all-new take on Guardians of the Galaxy. And Below is everything you need to know about the upcoming exciting game!
Guardians of the Galaxy: what to expect in the game!
In Guardians of the Galaxy, players will take on the role of Star-Lord in a third person action adventure game. This time around they’ll have jet boots and an elemental gun to help them defeat the infamous villains including Lady Hellbender and regent of Seknarf Nine. The single-player, open-world game will also include choice-based moments that will affect the story as you play through it. One of the biggest surprises about this new Guardians of the Galaxy game is that it won’t support online or offline co-op. Instead, you play as Peter Quill in an entirely solo experience!
The Guardians of the Galaxy game draws from existing lore – movies and comic books, but is a new interpretation. The movie adaptation was quickly noticeable when I saw Peter Quill for the first time. He’s not Chris Pratt in suitably recognizable form; he’s more inspired by comics which made him much different-looking with blonde coiffed hair and iconic red leather jacket studded with ’80s pins patches that makes him very distinctive
One of the best things about Guardians of the Galaxy is that any player can be Star-Lord and command all his team members, as he always likes, typical, right?. The game’s fast paced, with each character having their own unique abilities which you’ll use strategically to win fights against enemies as they try to take over our galaxy!
Music in the Game
As with the franchise in other media, Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos-Montréal has a heavy focus on humor and music. Speaking of music, as we all know, Star-Lord is a lost child of the ‘80s… and he’s a bit stuck in that era. So, Eidos-Montréal worked on getting licensed ’80s hits to play throughout the game, like Iron Maiden, New Kids on the Block, Kiss, Rick Astley; many more giving thematic gaming moments and through story cutscenes some great soundtrack for both.
Previous Marvel Games
This isn’t Square Enix’s first foray into Marvel, as the publisher previously released an Avengers game primarily developed by Crystal Dynamics (Eidos Montréal also assisted on that game). Despite a well-received single player campaign, the game was saddled with live service elements and microtransactions which were largely criticized. Guardians of the Galaxy will be entirely single player based with no add on DLC or Micro transactions so gamers can enjoy their adventures without having to worry about any issues!
